Summary

As the Network/System Administration Intern, you will be responsible for assisting in the day to day administration and support for a Windows Active Directory and SharePoint environment, as well as the supporting network, with special attention to security. You will likely explore and implement new technologies, as well as support our existing technologies.

You will report to the Network Services Manager and work side by side with several Network Administrators. We will rely on you to support IT projects, and we hope you bring a fresh perspective to our ongoing needs.

Responsibilities

• Help with the daily administration of Window Server, Active Directory, SharePoint, VMware environment
• Support the daily administration of the infrastructure supporting this environment (LAN/WAN/SAN).
• Perform support activities to support the mission of the Information Technology Department.
• Assist with the upgrade of systems software and hardware as needed to ensure secure, reliable, and stable operation of servers and related equipment.
• Assist the Application Support and Development groups for application troubleshooting and support.
• Assist the IT Security Team as needed.
• Help schedule assigned support tickets. Escalate problems (when needed) to the appropriately experienced technician or manager. Promptly update ticketing system with all work completed.
• Assist with all areas of network and system administration, across all levels of support, from HelpDesk through resolution.

Qualifications

• Students who have completed at least three years of a degree program with a concentration in Applied Networking and System Administration or related field, with a record of academic achievement
• System administrator experience in a Windows/Active Directory/SharePoint/VMWare environment, or core networking a plus
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the IT field
