Associate Trader – Global Markets

Rainier | Seattle, WA | Full-Time

For many of these clients, our relationship goes beyond investment management and includes customized solutions that address key issues and solve client-specific problems.


We are currently recruiting for an individual to join Manning & Napier’s Trading team to support Rainier Investment Management’s (RIM) international portfolio managers with the implementation of their investment ideas. Rainier and Manning & Napier work together to provide clients with superior service while managing their assets in mutual funds, collective investment trusts, institutional separate client accounts, and sub-advised separate accounts. This role will be based at the Rainier offices in Seattle, Washington.


  • The Rainier trading desk covers Asia, Europe and the Americas markets live for a minimum of eighteen hours a day. Responsibility for these two shifts is rotated monthly.
    1. Asia (Live Asian market hours: 4pm – 2am, Sun. – Fri.)
      • 3pm – midnight Sunday – Thursday, including U.S. holidays.
      • On call during Asia and European market hours, including U.S holidays.
    2. Europe and the Americas (Live European market hours: 12am – 10am, Sun. – Fri.)
      • 6am – 3pm Monday –Friday
  • Execute equity, FX and p-note orders (both single stock and program orders), with the goal of achieving best execution for our clients driving the process
  • Review and relay market news and relevant information to portfolio manager and analysts
  • Willing to work live market hours for Europe, Asia and the Americas with an understanding that shifts may change as market conditions and liquidity dictate
  • Review/validate transaction data utilized for both brokerage/commission reporting and TCA
  • Maintain working knowledge of global market structure and industry regulation, including the complexities and legalities associated with emerging and frontier markets.


  • Undergraduate degree
  • 2-4 years of trading-related experience with an institutional investment firm or broker/dealer.
  • International trading experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of various trading platforms (OMS & EMS) and support systems.
  • Proficient with information management systems such as Bloomberg.
  • Extensive mutual fund and sub-advised experience preferred.
