FAIRPORT, NY, August 24, 2011 – Manning & Napier Advisors, Inc. is proud to announce the winners of its 2011 Scholarship Program.
Manning & Napier awards one $8,000 scholarship and two $1,000 scholarships to three area high school students each year. This year, Jane Zhu of Pittsford Sutherland High School has received an $8,000 scholarship. She plans to study Business at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Catherine Harmer of Allendale Columbia and Calvin Patten of Alexander Central School will receive $1,000 each. Harmer will be studying Physics/Engineering at Yale, and Patten will be majoring in Biological Engineering & Pre-Med at Cornell University.
The Manning & Napier Scholarship Program was established in 2004 to recognize and reward academic excellence in local high schools. It is open to graduating seniors in the greater Rochester, New York area who plan to continue their education with a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited four-year college or university.
Awards are renewable for three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever comes first. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA and full-time enrollment to continue receiving their scholarship. In addition to the financial support, the winner of the $8,000 scholarship will also receive a paid internship with Manning & Napier during the summer between their junior and senior years of college.
